The business was started by the managing director, Abrie Griesel, as a more traditional accounting and audit practice in 2009 in Mpumalanga.

It became apparent early in the life of the business, that in order to make the best possible impact, the business would need to be relocated to Johannesburg and this was done in 2014. The consulting and advisory services have grown to the point where these services were split from the assurance services and transferred to GCA in 2019.
Assurance services are still provided by Abrie in a separate audit firm, AJ Griesel, which is registered with IRBA. GCA is not an audit firm and does not provide assurance services, however, the manner in which the services are provided, are modelled on the formal processes of the accountancy profession.
Over the years, the consulting and advisory services provided included project management and leadership involvement in multi-year national projects with DHET (The Department of Higher Education and Training in South Africa) and the NDOH (National Department of Health in South Africa). Furthermore, services were provided to a wide variety of public and private sector clients, in different industries, both big and small.

When required for a specific client or project, we would also include other appropriate professionals where different disciplines are required, e.g. education specialists, actuarial specialists, IT specialists. We follow strict recruitment and selection criteria and also evaluate our staff throughout, to ensure optimal service delivery to our clients and work satisfaction and beneficial collaboration for our team members.
